3. Identify the grammatical functions of words, phrases, clauses and figurative\/idiomatic expressions;<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Deduce or infer the writer\u2019s intentions including mood, attitude to the subject and opinion.<\/span><\/p>\n

B. Lexis and Structure<\/b><\/h3>\n

1. Synonyms<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

2. Antonyms<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Homonyms<\/span><\/p>\n

4. Clause and sentence<\/a> patterns<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Word classes and their functions<\/span><\/p>\n

6. Mood, tense, aspect, number, agreement\/concord, degree (positive, comparative and superlative) and question tags<\/span><\/p>\n

7. Punctuation and spelling<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

8. Ordinary usage, figurative usage and idiomatic usage are to be tested.<\/span><\/p>\n

5. Interpret information conveyed in sentences.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. Vowels (monophthongs and diphthongs)<\/span><\/p>\n

2. Consonants (including clusters)<\/span><\/p>\n

3. Rhymes (including homophones)<\/span><\/p>\n
