Abstract<\/strong><\/h3>\n

The purpose of this study was to determine the Influence of Economic and Environmental Factors on Enterprise Development in Uyo Senatorial District.<\/p>\n

Four specific objectives, four research questions and four hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. A survey design was adopted for the study.<\/p>\n

The population consisted of 452 business enterprise operators from Uyo senatorial district of Akwa Ibom. A total of 271 business operators constituted the sample size for the study.<\/p>\n

Simple random sampling technique was used to obtain 130 store owners and 113 sales managers for the study. The research-made instrument named \u201cInfluence of Economic and Environmental Factors on Enterprise Development\u201d <\/strong>(IEEFED) was used for data collection.<\/p>\n

The instrument was validated by three experts in the Department of Vocational Education, University of Uyo. Cronbach Alpha test method was used to determine the reliability of the instrument and result gave a reliability co-efficient of .74.<\/p>\n

Mean and Standard Deviation were used to answer research question while independent t-test was used to test the hypothesis at 05 level of significance.<\/p>\n

The development of enterprise activities at anytime is dependent upon a complex and varying combination of economic and environmental factors.<\/p>\n

The economic and environmental factors exercise a strong influence on the personality and background of business operations. The process of interaction and adaptation between enterprises, environment and economy goes on continuously.<\/p>\n

Enterprise development which is the creation of new enterprises and expansion of existing enterprise or re-development of enterprises (Ohanemu, 2006).<\/p>\n

The critical success factors of any enterprise development strategy are the viability of the business strategies behind the enterprise development activity which are often distorted by the economic and environment factors (Kuye, 2004). Business enterprises anywhere in the world operate within the economy and also within the environment.<\/p>\n

In management, the term environment does not necessarily mean physical surroundings but, it is used as the total forces, factors and influence that surround and affect business organization likewise the economy which can make or mar business operations.<\/p>\n

Economic and environmental factors walk hand-in-hand to influence the growth and development of enterprises. Therefore, business organizations irrespective of their objectives must take into consideration these economic and environmental opportunities and constraints (ILO, 2007).<\/p>\n

To this end, the extent to which business operators and managers could identify, evaluate and reach to the economic and environmental factors will have considerable impact and influence on enterprise development.<\/p>\n
