Abstract<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

This\u00a0study focuses on a \u2015Critical Analysis of the Communication Strategies\u00a0of Selected\u00a0Development Projects\u00a0in the\u00a0Federal Capital\u00a0Territory of Nigeria, Abuja\u2016. The study is\u00a0basically qualitative, descriptive research and has\u00a0Desk Review\u00a0and\u00a0Fieldwork as its Primary\u00a0and\u00a0Secondary sources of its Data collection.<\/p>\n

The fieldwork which anchored on the\u00a0Participatory Learning\u00a0and Action underpinning\u00a0methodological theory\u00a0used the tools that encouraged Participatory Communication such as Key Informant Interviews,\u00a0Focus Group Discussions, Transect Walks, Community Mapping,\u00a0Pair-wise Ranking\u00a0in order to arrive at the findings of the research.<\/p>\n

The Research used Paulo Freire\u2018s (1997) theory of\u00a0Dialogical Pedagogy, complemented by Fierlbeck\u2018s (1989), theory of Social Interaction, where both Teacher and Student work together to solve problems on an equal footing through co-operation,<\/p>\n

Introduction<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/h2>\n

The research therefore critically analyzed the communication strategies that were used in carrying out selected Development projects in the Federal Capital Territory and found out that while the Fadama III, Integrated Agricultural project at Kekeshi Community in Abaji Area Council,<\/p>\n

used communication strategies that were bottom-up and participatory, and therefore achieved a level of success and sustainability, the Millennium Development Goals Water Scheme and that of the Resettlement of Garki Village Indigenes to Apo projects,<\/p>\n

recorded failures which the researcher attributed to the use of communication strategies that were top-down, one-way, gated, trickle-down and protectionist in nature.<\/p>\n
