Abstract<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n

The Problem of poor and inadequate social amenities at the local government areas has made some people to call for their scrapping. But these local governments often complain of inadequate revenue.<\/span><\/p>\n

This study assessed revenue available to\u00a0<\/span>Borgu<\/span>\u00a0and Mokwa local government areas of Niger state and the social amenities they provided between 2007 and 2011. <\/span><\/p>\n

This is done in order to ascertain their internal and external revenue, social amenities provided and to establish relationships between the variables. <\/span><\/p>\n

To do this, data were collected through primary and secondary sources and were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical methods. The descriptive method used is percentage while figure and tables were used to present data. <\/span><\/p>\n

The inferential method was carried out using a non- parametric statistical tool (Spearman Correlation) with the aid of a Statistical Package for Social Sciences (SPSS).<\/span><\/p>\n

Also, how the available scarce resources are utilized determines the success or failure of both individuals and institutions in the accomplishment of the set targets. <\/span><\/p>\n

The effective management of revenue available to any organization remains a prerequisite to the achievement of its set objectives. And what an organization is able to achieved tells how its resources especially revenue is used.<\/span><\/p>\n

Local governments all over the world are established to carry out functions which include provision of social amenities and services such as health services, portable water, rural roads construction and maintenance, etc. <\/span><\/p>\n

To enable them perform these functions, revenue sources are legally established in most of the countries of the world. In Nigeria, this is in Section 162 (2) of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999.<\/span><\/p>\n
