The Federal University of Technology, Akure is in Ondo State, Nigeria’s southwest.  Also, since its inception in 1981, the institution has been preparing graduates with specialized skills in science and technology. 

However, there are two other universities in Nigeria’s southeast and south. FUTA, as it is known, is a non-denominational university with a big student body, one of the largest in the country.

In addition, the institution provides hostels and all other necessary facilities to assist students in learning and becoming creative in the field of technology. 

The university prepares its students to help unleash Nigeria’s technological potential. The university provides a variety of degrees at various levels

Interestingly, the National Universities Commission (NUC) of Nigeria has officially allowed and/or recognised the Federal University of Technology, Akure.

Meanwhile, as of today, FUTA offers roughly 9 schools offering unique degrees, most of which are not offered in Nigeria’s most prominent universities.

Admissions Requirements for FUTA

1. Candidates who choose the Federal University of Technology, Akure as their first choice during the Post-Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) Registration

2. A minimum of 180 in the JAMB Examination is required for UTME candidates.

3. Candidates for the UTME must have obtained at least five (5) credit passes, including English Language and Mathematics, in not over two (2) sittings in WAEC, NECO, or NABTEB or their equivalent O’ level examinations.

Direct Entry

1. Candidates for direct entry must have the following qualifications: A minimum of five (5) topics must be passed in not over two sittings, with at least two at the principal or advanced level of the G.C.E. and the remaining subjects at the credit level of the SSC/GCE O/Level; no subject may be counted at both the Ordinary and Advanced Levels.

2. Credit in Mathematics is required for all Science-Based Courses for both UTME and Direct Entry candidates.

3. Candidates must pass the mandatory University post-UTME/DE screening test with a satisfactory result.

4. Interested applicants who did not select the Federal University of Technology, Akure during the UTME/DE Registration process but intend to study at the university should do so via the JAMB website.

5. A candidate must be at least 16 years old to be considered.
