A family of six were waiting for  Mr Esquire. While they wait, Bint recounts her classroom experience with her intrusive Social studies teacher, Mallam Salihu, who has more knowledge about every subject as he will often ask questions outside the subject of discussion.

Bint describes how she genuinely handled a similar occurrence leaving the teacher dumbfounded by the cheering and laughter of other pupils.

Ummi is seamlessly proud of the answer bint gave, particularly, Bint’s intelligent approach to serious issues and she joins in the discussion right before Omar joyfully mentions his admission to study law at the Ahmadu Bello University.

As the family gathers to appreciate Omar’s success, Omar boasts of his achievement and takes pride in solely overcoming examination challenges and several other entry procedures while seeking admission.

Chapter Two is about Ummi being accepted into the university after agreeing to her father’s requirement that she marry before graduating. Her husband married her even before she started university.

Also, She describes how she met Salma and how she embarrassed herself at the faculty registration office by saying derogatory things about the University official. When Ummi went to Dr Samuel Johnson’s office to get her matriculation number.

However, she made an unpleasant gesture toward his hospitality. Dr Samuel Johnson was a good friend of her husband’s and the one who helped him smooth out her admission into the university, she subsequently heard from her husband.

Talle grew so lonely that he channelled his zeal into his work as a driver for the local government office. However, things take a dramatic turn for him one day when people in the grocery store where he gets his groceries notice that his purchase has increased from what he usually buys.

And knowing that he has no one to stay with, the grocer alerts the District head, Hakimi, that Talle is now buying more than he can consume in a week in days. Hakimi summoned Talle to the palace for questioning.

Salma’s account of how she got into university when she was only twenty years old is told in this chapter. Also, this chapter is important because of her contact with Dr Dabo, the then-100-level coordinator.

Dr Dabo is a very strict lecturer who has never engaged in any kind of underhanded behaviour with any of his students.

However, he has a track record of fair treatment of his students. He never misses a lecture and has a simple lecture rule: “Don’t come in after me.” But, because Salma was radiantly beautiful when she entered his office, 

Interestingly, he threw caution to the wind and didn’t know what to expect when he asked her to befriend him intimately. Salma immediately rejects his request, which makes him feel so bad that he repents and vows to never let his guard down again.

In addition, the Hostel gave Salma the most well-known Queen Amina Hall. Tomiwa, Ngozi, and Ada were her housemates at first, and she didn’t like them.

In the chapter, Five Habib contacted Tomiwa to tell them to park her in front of her hostel and that she should come out and hang out with them. As she walked out of her hostel to meet Habib, Tomiwa satisfied her curiosity.

 Habib was astute enough to recognise Tomiwa as the woman he had given a ride to the night before.

Also, Tomiwa confirmed his suspicions and discovered that Salma had given them Tomiwa’s contact information. Habib sent Labaran to gain some provisions and Suya to prepare food for them, as well as giving her fifty thousand nairas and instructing her to give ten thousand nairas to each of her roommates while she kept the remaining twenty thousand nairas.

However, Tomiwa got blown away, and when she returned to the hostel with the money and a bag full of delicacies, she got overjoyed. 

In continuation, As they savoured the chicken Suya she provided, she and her roommate ululated and yell with delight. Salma developed small jealousy that threatened to turn into a rift between her and Tomiwa, but thanks to Ada and Ngozi’s involvement.

Unfortunately, for Salma, the Moral Philosophy which should be one of the easiest and most straightforward courses, is proving to be a challenging course for her. Because this was a general subject, she, like other students, did not attend classes.

In addition, Salma‌ attends the tutorial the day before the exam because the lecturer in charge of the subject has been repeating questions with minor modifications for several years, so she studied the prior paper and took the exam.

Suddenly, when the invigilator asked questions, Salma discovered she was the only one who wasn’t writing because the lecturer had cut her expectations short. After a time, she implored Kolawole Abdul; the gentleman seated next to her, for help. For a time, he resisted, but eventually gave in and scribbled a code response to the first two questions.

Meanwhile, Habib gave her some money so she could bribe the chair of EMEC, whom she described as capable of selling his mother’s soul for money.

Honourable Habib promised to offer her some money for something she could give him in return. She walked right into his office and surrendered.

Also, She planned to meet with the chairperson of the EMEC in a hotel after receiving the money from Habib, and she provided only one hundred thousand nairas to Dr Mohammed Kabir as the Chairman of the EMEC. 

However, she then found at the panel that an impostor named Dr Kabir had duped her. He is not even a University lecturer, let alone the EMEC’s chairman.

Interestingly, Salma sobbed to Labaran and told him about her tragedy of being duped by an impostor. 

Shortly, Labaran then enlisted the help of Zaki to track down Mohammad Kabir and reclaim a sum of 300,000 naira from him, shortly after he made a large gain playing with the money he had obtained from Salma.

However, this episode also revealed who hired Zaki’s services to kidnap Alhaji Adamu’s son. Honourable Habib told Zaki to deal with Alhaji Adamu by kidnapping his son, but he messed up by engaging an unskilled villager named Talle, which almost cost him millions to cover up the matter with the police and have him and Talle released.

Interestingly, the day they were supposed to meet in person turned out to be a nightmare. Salim agreed to pay her a visit at about 9 p.m. because she stated she wouldn’t be able to go out in the afternoon.

Salim understood Natasha was being exploited as bait by kidnappers and arm robbers after the meeting’s turnout. He somehow avoided Natasha and her gangs’ prepared trap.
