University of Nigeria

The University of Nigeria, or UNN, is a federal university in Nigeria’s Enugu State, located in Nsukka. The University of Nigeria Nsukka was founded in 1955 by Nnamdi Azikiwe and formally opened on October 7, 1960. Also, the university has three campuses in Enugu State (Nsukka, Enugu, and Ituku-Ozalla) and one in Abia State (Aba).

The University of Nigeria UNN is the country’s first fully indigenous and independent university, modelled after the American educational system. It is Africa’s first land-grant institution and one of the country’s top five universities.

However, there are 15 faculties and 102 academic departments within the university. There are 108 undergraduate programs and 211 postgraduate programs available at the university. Interestingly, the federal university is among the first university in Nigeria.

In October 2010, the university celebrated its 50th anniversary, and it would have been 60th had it not been for the COVID-19 epidemic.
